Welcome to Vienna Youth Volleyball

Vienna Youth (VYI) Volleyball was formed in 2009 to meet the growing demand for youth volleyball in Northern Virginia.  The program is coed (girls and boys) in 4th-6th grade, and girls only in 7th-8th grade. We offer a high school girls option in spring.

VYI offers play at all skill levels, from beginner to advanced/travel level. VYI does not currently offer a Boys only league or a CHRVA club team. See below for a guide to the various leagues, clinics, and skill level definitions.

  • C – Little to no understanding of the game.  No developed volleyball skills.
  • B – Very basic understanding of the game and rules.  Some developed volleyball skills, such as passing and serving.
  • BB – Solid knowledge of the game and rules. Skill levels range from Advanced Beginner to Advanced Intermediate.
  • A – Excellent knowledge of the game and rules. Skill levels range from Advanced Intermediate to Experienced.  All players understand rotational sequence, offensive concepts (i.e., 5-1, 6-2, etc.) and defensive positions and can apply them in competition. Game and player strategies are well understood (i.e., running offensive plays, identifying opponent weaknesses, reading opponents plays during volley, etc.) but may still be in refinement.
